Muscogee
Muscogee, FL is located about twenty miles northwest of Pensacola in Escambia County along the Perdido River. The town is named for the Muscogee Lumber Company, which was founded in 1857 by European-American lumbermen. Eventually, the forests surrounding Muscogee were cleared, and lumbering in the area stopped.
In the 1880s, Muscogee was a thriving lumber town. The town is now largely abandoned, with only the cemetery as a reminder of the past. The town's heritage, however, lives on in the people who are descended from those early settlers. It is represented in the local history through old photographs and stories.
According to the 2010 Census, the median household income was $43,707. This was about the same as the national median of $54,543. The median income for males was $38,878 while the median for females was $30,868. The county's per capita income was $23,773.
